FIREFLY is a multi-service, non-profit organization and Childrens Treatment Centre located in Northwestern Ontario.In November 2022, FIREFLY achieved Exemplary Standing with Accreditation Canada. We are dedicated to supporting and strengthening the health and well-being of families, children, and youth through emotional, physical, developmental, and community services. Clients can access FIREFLY service in a variety of locations: centre based, in community (fly-in and drive-in communities), in schools, pre-school and child care settings. FIREFLY offices are located throughout Northwestern Ontario, providing a unique opportunity to build strong relationships with children and families, local colleagues and community partners. FIREFLY delivers many of our services in partnership with local First Nation organizations and is committed to building cultural safety into all that we do.

FIREFLY is seeking one (1) full-time Communication Assistant. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic multi-disciplinary team in Sioux Lookout. The Communication Assistant will work collaboratively supporting the delivery of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) services and are supervised by qualified SLPs.

Key Job Functions:


  • Conduct client sessions in-person and virtually
  • Assist in conducting hearing assessments
  • Follow and administer documented treatment plans with clients developed by the SLP
  • Provide program support including informal documentation and report writing
  • Prepare resource and promotional materials for the use in therapy, home programs and classrooms
  • Daily travel within the region is required
  • Perform other duties as required

  • Ability to work creatively with clients both individually and in group settings, in the home and school settings
  • Understanding of the Anishinaabe culture, First Nation communities and language is a definite asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge or mature experience in child development
  • Sensitivity to the need of parents/caregivers and the unique needs of each community
  • Computer literate with experience in written documentation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Your Mission:

As our Communication Manager , you will report to the Vice President of Marketing and lead in crafting a compelling communication strategy that elevates our brand awareness, connects with our target audiences, and drives engagement. You’ll work closely with internal experts and teams to transform complex cybersecurity concepts into accessible, high-value content that resonates with our customers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create and execute a strategic communication plan to support sales and marketing efforts;
  • Create, publish, and manage engaging content (posts, videos, infographics, blogs, client stories) across our social media platforms and websites;
  • Engage with our community , responding to comments and messages to foster meaningful interactions and brand loyalty;
  • Collaborate with internal technical experts to produce insightful content on cybersecurity challenges and trends, such as blogs, articles, white papers, ebooks, case studies, and newsletters;
  • Transform technical concepts into accessible, end-user-friendly content to facilitate implementation and user onboarding;
  • Produce scripts and concepts for educational videos and webinars;
  • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics (engagement, conversion rate, organic reach) to refine our digital strategy;
  • Optimize website content for SEO , ensuring increased visibility and organic traffic growth;
  • Stay ahead of industry trends , analyzing competitor actions and best practices to keep Mondata’s content fresh and impactful.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • A passion for storytelling and the ability to translate complex topics into engaging and accessible content;
  • Excellent communication skills with a knack for writing compelling, audience-focused narratives;
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently;
  • Team spirit and adaptability , thriving in a fast-moving, collaborative environment;
  • Creativity and attention to detail , ensuring all content is professional and aligned with our brand identity.

Your Experience & Skills:

  • Bilingual in English and French (fluent English is essential for reaching North American audiences);
  • 5 years of experience in communication and content creation, ideally in a tech or B2B environment;
  • 1 to 2 years of experience managing social media using dedicated platforms;
  • University degree in marketing, communication, or a related field;
  • Experience with marketing automation platforms (HubSpot) and AI tools;
  • Knowledge of IT and cybersecurity.
  • Advantage , but not mandatory:
    - SEO knowledge and expertise in content optimization
    - Design and video content creation skills

This position develops, manages, and shapes GS1 Canada's internal and external communication. Involves creating relevant, consistent clear and simple content, messages, visuals aligned with GS1 Canada’s brand. This position has a key role in disseminating information to employees, public and various stakeholders using varied mediums and digital platforms including intranet as well as company website pages. Assists in developing and implementing crisis communication plans to manage communication during emergencies or challenging situations.

This role is a hybrid position, requiring in-office attendance as needed in alignment with business priorities. 


Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable to create, gain approval, develop, disseminate, manage, and measure GS1.
  • Canada's internal communications content, visuals, corporate materials; calendars, templates and resources including internal social media, SharePoint intranet and website.
  • About Us & Career sections are relevant, clear, simple, unified and consistent.
  • Responsible to keep GS1 Canada’s employees informed, maintaining a positive public image in compliance with vision, mission, values and operating principles.
  • Responsible for corporate communication content results to inform, engage, drive business priorities, elevate the brand internally.
  • Responsible to develop, disseminate, maintain, and audit GS1 Canada's external brand, visual identity, and companywide content, messaging on corporate website pages, digital platforms are relevant, clear, simple, unified and consistent with approved standards/guidelines.
  • Responsible to assist with the development and management of crisis communication, internal and external to ensure GS1 Canada’s reputation in times of crisis, unexpected events.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Post-secondary certificate or equivalent in relevant discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant communication and brand management experience (public relations, business, and/or marketing).
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
  • Technical proficiency in content creation tools, including Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and video editing software.
  • Working knowledge of digital technologies and selecting channels most effective for reaching specific audiences to optimize communication (e.g., social media, email, web).
  • Familiarity with digital assets and technologies such as SharePoint, LinkedIn, content management systems, social media platforms, web technology and analytics, basic graphic design and video editing etc.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Industry-specific knowledge of brand development, brand voice and image guidelines, writing and style guides to ensure consistency across the organization.
  • Recognition and understanding of external business environment, complex issues, brand positioning best practices, and their implications on image and reputation.
  • Stakeholder Influence & Relationship Management – Solid communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, industry leaders, and external partners.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making – Uses analytics and insights to manage and measure communication effectiveness.
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to manage change and remain productive in dynamic environments.
